SEWER EXPANSION PROJECT DIDN'T KEEP EVERYONE AWAY
FROM LOCAL BUSINESS
MapleTronics Computers holds drawing and gives away GPS
device to one lucky customer.
(Goshen, IN) On Monday, June 27, construction crews began tearing
up a stretch of Wilden Avenue in front of MapleTronics Computers
for an important expansion to the local sewer. While the project
could have been viewed as an inconvenience for some, it didn't
stop customers of the Goshen-based computer company from navigating
their way through the construction zone to work with MapleTronics'
professional staff in finding answers for their technology needs.
MapleTronics held a contest, to thank their customers for coming
in, where they could register to win a Garmin GPS by making their
way through the construction zone and entering the store. Ruth
Plake, of Wakarusa Indiana was surprised to receive a call from
MapleTronics informing her that she had won the drawing. "I
have never won anything, except for a gallon of ice cream from
the grocery store", said Mrs. Plake. She had been trying
to get to the store with questions about a recently purchased
computer system and spent time trying first to enter from the
west and then driving around to the east entrance. Overall it
proved to be a very rewarding experience for her.

WES HARTMAN EARNS NEW VMware
CERTIFICATIONS
MapleTronics Computers Account Manager adds VSP4 and VTSP4 to
his IT resume
(Goshen, IN) Wes Hartman, Account Manager for
Goshen-based MapleTronics Computers, recently added the VMware
Sales Professional 4 (VSP4) and VMware Technical Sales Professional
4 (VTSP4) certifications to his IT resume. VMware is a software
solution that allows clients to run multiple servers independently,

MAPLETRONICS COMPUTERS ACQUIRES
TENNESSEE'S GET-COVERED MANAGED IT SERVICES
Natural combination of two leading IT Solutions
Providers will benefit clients with unmatched customer service
and increased culture of innovation
(Goshen, IN) MapleTronics Computers founder,
CEO and President Wes Herschberger announced today that his Goshen-based
company has expanded into the Volunteer State with its recent
purchase of Get-Covered Managed IT Services. Effective immediately,
the offices in Columbia and Murfreesboro, Tennessee will operate
under the name of Get-Covered, a division of MapleTronics Computers.
The acquisition combines the operations of
two companies that share a passion for serving customers by providing
them with small business values, big business results and enterprise
level expertise, as well as experience in the field of technology.
MapleTronics first expanded out-of-state two
years ago with an office in the Sarasota area of Florida.
Phil Cooper and Jeff Franks formed Get-Covered,
originally called NetTech, as a partnership in 1995 and incorporated
in 1998. Between 1995 and 2004 the company served the greater
middle Tennessee area as a network and system value-added reseller,
specializing in small businesses and city/county governments.
It
grew from a two-man operation to its current 12 employees at its
Columbia and Murfreesboro offices. In 2005 Cooper and Franks completely
overhauled their business model and moved to offering managed
services exclusively, changing the name of the company to Get-Covered
Managed IT Services earlier this year. In January 2008 the company
was recognized by MSPmentor, the world's top MSP blog for managed
service providers, as one of its Top 100 Managed Service Providers
(MSPs) worldwide.
Mr. Herschberger, who serves on the Intel Corporation's
North American Channel Board of Advisors, is excited about his
company's future with the addition of Get-Covered as one of its
family of companies.
"Both Phil Cooper and Jeff Franks bring
incredible value to our team of professionals, " said the
nationally recognized entrepreneur and author of the book, When
IT Hits the Fan. "Their experience and knowledge is great,
but the most important thing is their incredible desire to make
the lives of our clients better through making their work easier."
Get-Covered now offers to its Tennessee and
Kentucky clients the same vast array of technology services that
MapleTronics offers. Cooper and Franks, who between them have
31 years of experience in the field of technology, have been added
to the MapleTronics leadership team and both own stock in the
company.
"While we have been approached
a number of times for acquisition by other IT firms," Mr.
Cooper explained, "Jeff and I have never seen and felt such
perfect harmony of mission and vision as we have with Wes Herschberger
and his team at MapleTronics Computers. Our clients and teammates
are really going to benefit from this merger."

MapleTronics Computers'
Technology Goes Green
New processor line is ultra fast and extremely energy efficient
(Goshen, IN) MapleTronics Computers demonstrated this month its
commitment to joining the nationwide movement of going green and
creating a safer environment by switching its entire server line
to Intel's® new Xeon® 5500 series "green" processor,
code named Nehalem.
"There is no price increase for the system
and users will reap an immediate 75-100% gain in performance and
spend considerably less money to keep it running," said Wes
Herschberger, owner and CEO of the Goshen-based technology firm.
A single Nehalem server can replace nine single
core servers, while at the same time reducing power consumption
by 20 percent. Switching from previous-generation processors to
the groundbreaking Nehalem promises to save companies money on
power and cooling, space, labor and software licensing costs.
Industry experts say that the cost savings from energy alone will
pay for new servers in eight to twelve months, making a strong
case for purchasing the new system despite the current economic
climate.
The beauty - and the greenness - of the smart
system is that the highly efficient, ultra fast technology adapts
to a company's unique needs. A feature called Turbo Boost technology
helps make maximum use of processor power. If the operating system
requires more performance during a particularly busy time of the
work day, it can ramp up the speed for each individual core. During
downtimes it can almost completely shut off power to individual
cores if they're not being used, saving energy.
"It only uses power when needed,"
Herschberger said. "This technology is a huge breakthrough
and will be a great benefit to our clients, saving them money
while helping them to help our environment."

MAPLETRONICS COMPUTERS INTRODUCES COMMERCIAL
BROADBAND WIRELESS SERVICE TO GREATER GOSHEN AREA
Goshen firm partners with Elkhart-based Commercial Broadband Services
to meet the growing demand for fast, fail-over, wireless connection
to the Internet
(Goshen, IN) Goshen-based MapleTronics Computers announced a collaboration
with Commercial Broadband Services (CBS) of Elkhart to offer commercial
broadband wireless Internet service to the greater Goshen area.
Headquartered in a region oft-described by the national media
as the hardest hit in the country's economic downturn, these two
Elkhart County companies are not only holding steady but are expanding
with a new service designed to deliver lightning quick, fail-over
connectivity to the Internet for commercial users.
A key component of the new service is the ring
of towers owned and leased by MapleTronics and situated around
the greater Goshen area to ensure its wireless customers are never
without an Internet connection.
"If one tower fails, we have multiple
paths for back-up," explained Marty Lantz, Chief Technology
Officer for MapleTronics. "That's always been the knock on
wireless service, that it can lose connectivity due to power failure
or weather-related issues. With our ring of towers we offer a
highly-available, very resilient service with a managed fail-over
product."
The service utilizes two Internet connections,
one primary and one secondary. If the first connection fails,
the second will take over, ensuring service without interruption.
The official start-up date for the new service
was June 1st, but due to customer demand it was launched in mid-May
and already has multiple businesses utilizing it.
The decision to offer broadband wireless service
was made in direct response to MapleTronics' corporate clients'
requests for an affordable, enterprise level connection between
their businesses and MapleTronics. The Goshen firm turned to Gene
Crusie, CEO and president of CBS and also a former long-time executive
at MapleTronics, to form a partnership. Crusie explains, "The
CBS infrastructure consists of FCC licensed microwave links with
redundancy built in to every possible aspect of the system."
CBS maintains the wireless backbone part of the service and MapleTronics
supplies the connectivity to the Internet.
"We are excited about the opportunity
to partner closely with CBS and continue to foster our 10-year
business relationship," Lantz said.
"Internet access is very important
to our clients," Lantz said. "They told us they needed
their Internet to stay up and they wanted a high-speed connection
to our data centers so they can house their equipment at MapleTronics.
If their business goes down, we can fire up and get them going
immediately."

MAPLETRONICS COMPUTERS HOSTS FREE BREAKFAST
SEMINARS
FOR LOCAL BUSINESS OWNERS AND EXECUTIVES
"Controlling IT Costs in Uncertain Times" led by CEO
Wes Herschberger
(Goshen, IN) by Susan Begay
Not all surprises are good ones, especially
in the world of business ownership. A business can be zipping
along, enjoying lucrative sales, making customers happy, generating
strong cash flow, and then suddenly, an unexpected event can pop
out of left field and radically reduce the bottom line.
These types of "surprises" seem to
occur too often in the ever-changing area of information technology
(IT). Wes Herschberger wants to help business owners learn how
to minimize unexpected expenses and create more certainty for
themselves during these uncertain economic times, and he's doing
it over coffee, a Continental breakfast and a conference room
full of local businessmen and women at his breakfast seminars
aptly titled, "Controlling IT Costs in Uncertain Times."
"The economy is not the sole reason this
idea of the breakfast seminars was hatched, but it's very relevant
now," said Herschberger, CEO of MapleTronics Computers. "Computers
and systems are becoming more complex by the day. The amount of
training required to keep up with technology is astonishing, and
one unanticipated incident can cost a company extraordinary amounts
of money."
As founder of the Goshen-based technology company,
Herschberger has heard it all in the 17 years since he created
MapleTronics and took it from a one-person local venture to 65
employees and satellite offices in Fort Wayne and Sarasota, Florida.
Over and over he's heard business owners describe their biggest
frustration to be their efforts to keep IT costs predictable,
manageable, and affordable.
Herschberger listened and asked himself, "How
can we make it easier for these business owners?" He believes
the answer is to take these huge IT issues and break them down
into small, manageable pieces with the end goal of making variable
and unplanned expenses predictable.
The nationally recognized entrepreneur and
author of the book, When IT Hits the Fan, has so far hosted two
breakfast seminars to which business owners and executives were
invited, The free seminars are held at MapleTronics' corporate
offices during the breakfast hours of 7:30-9:30 am, and the number
of invitees is intentionally kept small - 10-15 people - to give
everyone a chance to interact in a relaxed environment.
The seminar format begins with breakfast, followed
by Herschberger speaking to the group, a Power Point presentation,
questions, answers and conversation between all present, and information
packets containing worksheets, spreadsheets and graphs for attendees
to utilize post-seminar.
Seminar objectives include helping attendees
learn to accurately predict their monthly IT costs, evaluate the
real costs of their IT investments, learn ways to minimize their
IT expenses, assess their company's data protection needs, and
determine the best course of action, i.e. to outsource their IT
or keep it in-house.
"Expense leaks" - costs associated
with failure or outages, computer down time, and the cost of security
breaches - are discussed at length, as are often-overlooked business
expenses like audit costs, technology training costs of users
and IT staff, and IT personnel cost. These costs can be predicted
if they're planned in advance, Herschberger advised.
Expenses with the highest potential to become
huge leaks occur in the areas of data protection and disaster
recovery, maintenance costs, end user support costs, and monitoring
and reporting costs.
Eric Brumbaugh, CFO and co-owner of Shepherd
Distribution in Elkhart, attended the first breakfast seminar
held on February 19. "I learned that we abuse our technology
equipment and do not maintain it accordingly," he shared.
"We just expect it to work without thinking about it working
at optimal levels. Disaster planning for our company was also
lacking."
Brumbaugh went on to say that he needed "a
dose of inspiration during this difficult economic time"
and credits Herschberger with "energizing me to work smarter
to achieve some of our company's goals."
Leanne DeFelice, Dean of Students and Technology
Coordinator at Howe Military School, was also a participant at
the first seminar. "We are just in the beginning stages of
implementing some of the ideas discussed at the seminar, and we
are eagerly waiting to see the hard work pay off for our staff
and cadets," she shared.
DeFelice went on to say that she especially
appreciated the MapleTronics staff members who were seated at
each table at the seminar. "I found this to be very helpful
if I had a quick question on an issue that had just been covered,"
she said.
Herschberger's goal is to host at least one
seminar per month for the foreseeable future. A third seminar
will be held in Fort Wayne this month, and a fourth has been set
for late May in conjunction with the Goshen Chamber of Commerce
and its members. It will be held at the Chamber's offices.
Herschberger calls it his "passion"
to help business owners navigate the complex world of information
technology and get the most bang for their buck by eliminating
unplanned and unbudgeted expenses. "While I teach people
how to do this when they return to their offices (after the seminar),
MapleTronics also offers services to care for many of the same
things that I teach," he explained.
If you are a business owner or executive and would like to attend
the free breakfast seminar, "Controlling IT Costs in Uncertain
Times", with Wes Herschberger at MapleTronics Computers,
please call Ron Breniser at (574) 534-2830 or e-mail him at hawk@emaple.net

include axXis Proactive Services and the TorQ Data Protection
Suite.
In conjunction with the expansion, the MapleTraining
division of MapleTronics will promote the use of Training Acceleration
Grants (TAG) in Fort Wayne and throughout Northern Indiana. "TAG
is offered through the Indiana Department of Workforce Development
(DWD)," said Rene Echartea, Business Development Specialist
for MapleTronics, "and is designed to allow small to medium-sized
companies to better train their employees by following the guidelines
for the grant."
The company is scheduled to administer over
$500K in TAG through the first quarter of 2008. "Our goal
is to push that to over $1 million in Fort Wayne and throughout
northern Indiana," said Herschberger. According to the DWD
website, companies hoping to use the grant must meet ONE of the
following criteria: increase personal income for Hoosier workers,
promote small business growth, foster job retention and expansion,
or close skill gaps identified through WorkKeys® assessments.
Classes that are being offered in Fort Wayne
and throughout northern Indiana include Microsoft Certified Systems
Administrator (MCSA), Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, Microsoft
Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) - SQL Server 2005, Security
Certification Training (including Security + and Certified Ethical
Hacker), Certified Cisco Network Administrator (CCNA), and Project
Management Professional Certification. Most companies will pay
only $500 out of pocket expense for these programs. "The
MCSA track normally would cost an employer $10,000. Utilizing
TAG, we can provide that same training and certification for $500;
that is a tremendous value," said Echartea.
Companies interested in more details should contact MapleTraining
at 1-800-358-7447.
Herschberger gave an overview of the company's other offerings,
with an emphasis on the axXis Proactive Services product. "Proactive
Service means we monitor your network, we maintain your network,
and we report to you any problems or work we perform," Herschberger
said. He further explained that the service allows remote management
of the day-to-day tasks of maintaining a computer network.

"Proactive Services are the wave of the
future," said Herschberger. "Having MapleTronics remotely
resolve day-to-day issues like patch installation and virus protection
updates lowers the overall cost of running a network. The service
works well for companies that do not have a dedicated IT staff,
but we also complement the service of those companies that do,
allowing their staff to spend time working on larger projects."
Rounding out the initial product offerings are the TorQ Internet
Backup solutions. These solutions are custom-engineered for each
customer to back up anything from a laptop to very large networks.
"These offerings are highly flexible, meeting customers'
current and future needs when it comes to offsite data protection,"
said Herschberger. Offsite data protection is gaining in popularity,
and in many cases, is mandated by rules governing certain types
of businesses.
Herschberger concluded, "We are excited to enter these markets
and look forward to supporting the technical needs of the Fort
Wayne and West Central Florida markets. As our TorQ and axXis
services grow, the need for additional staffing at our Goshen
headquarters will increase as well."
