Most
businesses today are faced with ever-growing data storage needs
and are constrained by traditional backup devices and narrowed backup
windows. As you start to design a solution to these issues you need
to consider answering two basic questions first:
1. What is your Recovery Time
Objective (RTO), or, how quickly do you need to recover from a data
disaster?
2. What is your Recovery Point
Objective (RPO), or, how much data can you afford to lose?
Once you have answered these two basic questions for each of your
data sets then we can help you design a Data Protection solution
to address your business objectives.
Data Protection Services:
Disk Protection
-
Block level protection
for entire drive or partition
This approach protects
the entire drive or partition from a block level. As the block
changes it is recorded in a holding area to be flushed based on
the type of protection.
-
Continuous Data Protection
This flushes the block level
changes from a cache area continuously to the primary and
secondary drives. This gives you the best Recovery Point Objective
in a hardware failure. Periodic data protection is then used
to get the best Recovery Time Objective and protect against
a rolling disaster such as a worm or virus.
Use of the cache area will improve overall I/O performance
compared to disk I/O.
-
This flushes the block level changes from the cache area
at a preset point in time to the primary and secondary drives.
This gives you the best Recovery Time Objective and protects
against rolling disaster.
-
Continuous Data Replication
This, like Continuous Data Protection, continuously flushes
block level changes from the cache area to a DR site regardless
if it is across the room or across the country. This protection
gives you the best Recovery Point Objective.
If the Internet bandwidth becomes constrained, the changes
will queue up in the caches to be flushed when the bandwidth
becomes available. If the cache fills, the replication automatically
falls back to Point in Time replication.
Bandwidth may be throttled.
-
Point in Time Replication
This protection flushes block level
changes from the holding area to a DR site at a preset point
in time. This protection gives you the best Recovery Time Objective.
-
This protection combined with redundant
offsite servers reduces the downtime your business has in
the event of a disaster that destroys your primary location.
-
MapleTronics offers
a premier data vault to house your offsite DR location with
all the redundancies built in (Power, Bandwidth, etc.).
